Volunteering

The practice of Mahayana Buddhism emphasizes the cultivation of merits and virtues by practicing the six Paramitas (perfection of the Bodhisattva Path), which are the blessings and wisdom necessary for achieving Buddhahood. Being the first Paramita, practicing generosity can make good connections, let go of greed, and cultivate good roots.

The practice of generosity is divided into alms giving, dharma giving and fearlessness giving. Alms giving can be further categorized into external alms and internal alms giving. With the aim of supporting the Triple Jewel and assisting others in studying and practicing Buddhism, through dedicating one’s labor, time and talent, volunteering at the temple is an ideal way of practicing internal alms offering.
